对话可以对沟通充耳不闻,亦未必构成真正的交流。如何为这种沟通的不可能赋予形式?当我们难以衡量词语、句子与语言各自承载的恰切分量时,语言的脆弱——语言交流的脆弱,乃至一切交流的脆弱——究竟栖身何处?
仿佛”语冰”于“夏虫“,当我们始终无法调谐至彼此的频率时,我们究竟在谈论什么?声音设计模拟了一种被扰乱的声学环境:观者无法真正”听见“主角所”说“的内容——只能阅读他以法国手语呈现的身体表达。
这部实验短片实践了 Jacques Attali (雅克·阿塔利) 关于声音之政治维度的理论:”聆听即是接纳;接纳即是为自身的常态服丧。” 每一位伫立于作品前的观者,都成为这场对话的参与者,被引向对自身沟通方式的省思。聆听这一行为本身,既是冲突与误解发生的场所,也同时是一次尝试修复的现场。这部短片中的”对话”探索别样的沟通方式,以及它们何以走向失败。

Dialogue can be deaf to communication, and would not necessarily constitute exchange. How can one bring this impossibility of communication into form? Where does the fragility of language lie — of linguistic exchange, even of any exchange — when one struggles to measure the proper weight that words, sentences, and languages carry? It is in reflecting upon the extensions of Is There A Pine on The Mountain that I created this short film, Let’s Talk.
But what is one talking about, when each carries a singular trajectory and we fail to tune to one another’s frequency? The sound design imitates a disturbed acoustic environment: one cannot truly hear what the protagonist “says” — one can only read his bodily expression, in French Sign Language.
This experimental short film puts into practice Jacques Attali’s theory of the political scope of sound: “To listen is to accept; to accept is to mourn one’s normality.” Each viewer before the work becomes a participant in this conversation, prompted to reflect on their own mode of communication. The very act of listening becomes the site of conflict and misunderstanding, but also, simultaneously, of an attempt at repair. The “dialogue” in this short film seeks to interrogate modes of communication, and the reasons why they fail.
